CTS Wardrobe

Let's start with a short introduction to the infamous CTS Wardrobe... Carlyle Theas is an incredible creator with many other products that are similar or at least as useful. She invented this system where you can take photos and sort them on a website so you don't lose those precious pixel treasures we accumulate inworld... Sounds like something you could do on your PC, or even on Flickr, right? But hear this : the system is soooo complex and complete, the options are endless to make your second life easier! The system actually works with RLV, so you can add or remove pieces or outfits through your computer. You can also sort them in many ways with tags, key words, a creators library or alphabetically. I mean I barely know all the options as I use so little... My main use for it is to sort everything I own! Not only do I use it for my clothes, but also for my objects, animations, expressions, tattoos, make up, some photo albums, collections, projects, textures, you name it!

So, what does it look like? This is my wardrobe when it's all closed...

Then you can open the doors to the different categories with the tags on the left alpha-numeral order...

In my case,
! is for photos and albums
# is for textures
( is for objects..... etc....
I is for Inventory Outfits (My beloved collection of SL initial avatars starting with the purple Orb!)

And then of course there are subcategories so you can easily find what you need right away...

And that's how it really takes shape, with the item's names, photos, tags and descriptions :

Clothes are under 4, then they are categorized by pieces, then by system (BOM or mesh). My wardrobe is pretty substantial, but also a little dated! I had this moment without work or school where I started a strong sorting base and now I can follow in my inventory temporarily, until I enter them in the wardrobe, cause they're already pretty well sorted. But obviously will be nicer when I can see with my eyes! I don't register names and words as well as the images, like many people I bet!

So now you can imagine it takes time and a good setup! Absolutely! You need to enjoy this process and to have a great space to take the photos. (Some people use the ads too, cutting work time a lot! But my brain likes when it's all sorted neatly, with homemade photos...)

I used to keep a Changeroom for group users and their friends to come over and take photos. Of course you can easily get set up in a sandbox, but the Changeroom was also a way to meet others, talk about the functionalities, fix problems, exchange ideas for sorting systems, etc... I think the community created by Carlyle through the Support group inworld has had tremendous effects in every user's life. This group of people include the smartest and kindest souls on SL! So to me, the Changeroom was also a way to meet and get to know them better, as well as introduce new users! Just a cozy, pretty place to unpack, sort, make outfits and/or take wardrobe shots...

And of course, I adapted it to seasons, to the new gorgeous stuff people created and to accommodate activities that we would plan... Always trying to keep the clothing, or skating themes... Sorta ;)

I loved every single one and loved the times spent with friends and showing them around the wardrobe or sharing inventory tips!

Nostalgia....!

So.... I used to have all the photos taken in the same angle, same pose... But then I got pretty sad to have thousands of outfits (oh you can also save outfits!!!) and not live in them much... So I started taking photos of the outfit in different poses, and finally in different locations too!

Some examples...

The results turned out so cute and fun, it was hard to stop! I was exploring new sims, learning about lighting a little and playing with poses or furniture's animations... Making me fall head over heels in love with SL photography!

One doesn't simply fall into SL photography without a good story to tell! Let me know yours!
